Mom's Burn Box Day

My mom kept a cardboard box in the living room coat closet, where she put all papers that needed burned, so bad guys didn’t get them. Shredding wouldn’t suffice! Bills, random envelopes, anything with our names printed on it. Once per month she would light a fire in the fireplace and burn all of the confidential papers. It was a fun day. If I was lucky, she would let me roast a marshmallow.
