This painting is the largest underwater portrait I’ve done, measuring at 48 x 48 inches. It is also the first underwater painting where I’ve used my own face and body as a reference image, making it a self-portrait of sorts. Can you see the resemblance?
My underwater pieces are all quite spiritual for me. It feels like painting the perplexing in-between of life and death, which I ponder often. What will it feel like when I leave behind one realm to enter another? How can the spiritual dimension feel so close and yet so far? Sometimes it feels like a rippling image I can barely see above the surface of the water. Do fish dream of what lives above the surface in the same way?
Painting should be fully dry and ready to ship by the week of November 23rd. FREE SHIPPING.
